What we can do for you

Using the A+BE website we will publish an issue of A+BE dedicated to your thesis. We will disseminate your thesis in four different ways:

  • ABSTRACT the full summary of the thesis (online text);
  • PDF interactive PDF of the full thesis (download link);
  • PAPERBACK full-colour printing-on-demand book (link to eStore).

If you want, we can even offer a cost-effective B/W paperback version if no essential data gets lost in grey-scale. Access to the paperback versions is provided through the PAPERBACK link that will foward you to an online store. Paperback versions can also be purchased through Amazon.com and Amazon Europe or other online stores.

Indexing

A+BE is registered at our national ISSN centre: the National Library of the Netherlands (Koninklijke Bibliotheek) under ISSN 2212-3202, and E-ISSN 2214-7233. Your thesis receives its own International Standard Book Number (ISBN) and an unique Digital Object Identifier (DOI) at no extra charge. We submit the metadata of your thesis to the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ). Your thesis is typically within 1-2 weeks indexed in Google Scholar.

A little help please

To keep costs down we ask you to layout your own work, using a special Adobe InDesign template. If you are not acquainted with InDesign we will teach you the basics of the program in about 1-2 hours to get you started. A graphic designer from Sirene-Ontwerpers will supervise the process and take care of the final editing/design. If you are not able to visit us in Delft or Rotterdam, we will contact you using Skype.

Be in time

Please understand that we need to plan work. Typically we start working with you 6 to 8 weeks before your defence. Even then we need to know in advance that you want to be included in the series. So, please contact us as soon as possible.

Costs (APC)

We do charge you the costs for processing the thesis. The costs depend on the number of pages and the chosen format. We offer a standard format (189 x 246 mm) and an extended format (216 x 279 mm). The graphic design and online publication of a standard thesis with 300 pages will cost approximately €2000 ex VAT. This includes the production of the aforementioned ABSTRACT, PDF, and PAPERBACK, the ISBN and DOI. Sirene-Ontwerpers will provide you a cost estimate based on the standard €2000 ex VAT, the costs for additional pages and graphic design work.

We do not charge you for submitting the thesis.

PhD candidates from the TU Delft Graduate School of Architecture and the Built Environment receive this service for free. TU Delft candidates will also receive a small amount of paperbacks in accordance with the requirements of the TU Delft PhD defence procedure.
